  • Studio admin system issue

    A few parents have reported issues with logging into my new on-line lesson booking system. The problem lies with the default Internet Explorer settings you are using. The best thing to do is to use a different browser, I recommend Google Chrome. (Click accept and install after clicking on the link and it will automatically install.) You will find this much smoother, faster and easier to use than Internet Explorer and it accepts session cookies by default.

    Alternatively, you need to change the “Privacy Settings” in your internet options so that session cookies are allowed. Go to “Internet Options” in your control panel, click on the Privacy tab and reduce from Medium to Low then click OK.

    You should now find that you can log in to the system correctly at http://whay.me/plc

  • Piano Points – Easter 2010

    The results of the piano points top nine scorers for last term are as follows:

    This term we have a tie break on the top spot with both Laura and Mollie achieving 38 points! (No fighting over the cup, please)

    Alice – Tattenhall and Ruth – St. Werburgh’s: 37 points.

    Charlie and Emily – Tattenhall: 36 points

    Daniel and Dominic – St. Werburgh’s and Sophie – Queens: 35 points

  • Raindrops develop from CDE beginnings

    Many of my students will recollect the “CDE song” as one of the first pieces I taught them on the piano. The song is actually published in “Music Lessons Have Begun, by Leila Fletcher” which was a tutor book I learned from myself as a child, yes it was published that long ago! I don’t use the whole publication as I feel that Pauline Hall’s “Oxford Piano Method” series is visually more user friendly and enticing, though much of Leila’s musical content is very catchy.

    “CDE song” was the first piece Oliver learned nearly four years ago and the noteflight arrangement below is his latest piece of work which pays homage to this early experience. This is the second time his work has been featured on my website but the first time in his own notation. See African Elephant

  • Piano Concert raises £150 for Betina’s Lessons

    The piano concert last Saturday raised £150 for the Kampala Music School Bursary fund. A record number of students attended and were performing, 27 in total. Everybody gave it there best shot and though most people were very nervous, they played well. After the presentation of the piano points cup (which arrived just in time thanks to Mrs Hay) piano points and exam certificates were awarded. Half way through the programme we heard our sponsored student from Kampala Music School, Betina play her violin. I have posted videos of three performances from the concert below. If you would like a high-quality video clip of your child’s performance then please send a memory stick in with them to their next lesson.
