  • New ABRSM Piano Syllabus – Grade 1

    It is with great pleasure that I can announce the new ABRSM Piano Syllabus for 2013-2014. The pieces can be used in exams from January 2013 until Easter 2015. I have produced a playlist of demonstration videos of the Grade 1 Pieces so far and intend to produce more as time permits…

    My favourite selection I think would have to be A3 – Das Ballett, B3 – In a boat and C2- March though I am also fond of the C3 Chatanooga ChooChoo piece and have been since I first heard it played from a cassette tape in my youth! Only time will tell as to which pieces prove most popular with my students.

    It was fun recording the pieces this morning and I couldn’t resist putting an out-take on the facebook page from when Geoffles decided to jump in on the action!

  • Celebrating Success at Step One

    LCM Music ExamsFollowing the second entry I have submitted to the LCM exams, Dominic came away with a distinction (86/100) in his Step 1 Piano Exam and was very keen to share some of his favourite pieces from the exam in this video.

  • ABRSM Grade 2 Piano Exam Pieces (in HD)

    Following on from my post last summer which featured demo videos of the 2011-2012 Grade 1 Piano Syllabus, I have now been able to produce a set of demo videos for the Grade 2 syllabus. Those of you about to take your Grade 1 piano might be interested to see what is in store for your next course of study.   • Piano Exam Times – November 2011

    Exam times for the forthcoming sessions are below. All the times have now been posted. The venue is Stanley Palace, Watergate Street, Chester. Times are as follows:

    I can confirm that the next concert will take place at All Saint’s Church, Hoole starting at 11am  on Saturday 3rd December 2011 and will last no more than an hour. Tickets will be on sale £3/adult. £1/child in aid of Kampala Music School. Contact me for more details

  • Three years later – Making Progress

    One of the joys of being a piano teacher is being able to appreciate the progress your students have made from the effort they have put in to their studies. I would like to share some of the progress that three students have made since they were last featured on my blog three years ago.

    In the early podcast episode, Louise, Sophie and Ruth played their favourite pieces from the ABRSM Prep Test syllabus. Three years down the line they have kindly agreed to share their favourite Grade 3 pieces in the video clip. As Ruth points out in the video, it is only by setting yourself challenges and striving towards your goals that you are able to achieve them.
